Drugstore Beauty Bargains – March

This month I checked out Walgreens to see what kind of inexpensive makeup I could find and tested to see how well it worked. A brand I’m loving is called Jordana (have only found it at Walgreens but Jordana also has a website you can order directly from). Tried a couple of other brands too….here were my favorites….

Jordana Easyliner Retractable Pencil for Eyes

Cost $2.29

I love that it’s retractable (no sharpening required), it glides on softly so I wasn’t tugging on my eyes, it had excellent coverage and lasted all day. It comes in 13 colors and I personally tried five of the colors (denim blue, smokey, lavish brown, sea green and black). I loved how each of them looked and I will use this eye pencil for as long as they make them! (I have paid more than 7 times this amount for an eye pencil and I thought this worked as well as any, if not better than some).

Jordana Easyliner Retractable Pencil for Lips

Cost $2.29

This is also retractable so no sharpening required, it also glides on with ease, it didn’t smear or smudge and lasts a long time. It comes in 12 shades and the 2 colors I tried are Baby Berry and Rock n Rose. Will definitely buy more.

Maybelline Expert Wear Eye Shadow Quad

Cost $6.59

This compact has 4 coordinated shades that didn’t crease, smudge or smear, it lasted all day without fading, it comes with an applications guide, is opthamologist tested and safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers and I loved the color choices. Tried the Natural Smokes color and I’m wearing it about three times a week.

Wet ‘n Wild Megalast Salon Nail Color
and Sinful Colors Professional Nail Enamel

Cost: $1.99 ea.

Both of these brands had gorgeous colors, they went on smoothly, dried quickly and were long-lasting without any chipping. The Wet ‘n Wild polish had a “ManiCurve pro-brush” that I found really easy to use-it’s wider and flatter and covered the entire nail with far fewer strokes than some. The Sinful Colors polish  brush was thinner so I needed more stokes to cover the nail but it made getting into the edges super easy. Last month I bought OPI and Essie brand polishes and while I loved them too, they cost 3 times more than what I paid for these and I think they all worked equally well and had great colors choices.

Jordana BESTlash Extreme Volumizing Mascara

Cost $3.49

This particular type of mascara only comes in the color black. I liked it as much as I’ve liked most mascaras I’ve tried, it didn’t clump and was long-lasting. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it and will continue to wear it while experimenting with others. My lashes are short and sparse so I have been on a life-long quest for finding the “PERFECT” mascara and it really did work as well as the more expensive ones I’ve used in the past.

Jordana Easyshine Glossy Lip Color

Cost $2.29

This lip color comes in 12 shades for a fun pop of color, has a nice shine finish and didn’t dry out my lips. I didn’t think it lasted that long when worn alone but I’ve been using it to add some shine and color to some of my old lipsticks that I wasn’t loving and I like the effect. I will buy this again.

Simply Lip Balm

Cost $1.29 or two for $2.00

This relieved my dry, chapped lips, didn’t feely”waxy”, comes in different flavors that actually taste good and did
everything
that any other lip balm has ever done for me. For a buck? I will definitely keep this in my purse everyday!

Save $$$ online at Walgreens.com? Maybe…

*When I was checking out the Walgreens website I noticed the prices were slightly less than the store prices. I called and asked about the price difference and they did say the prices varied from store and online purchases. They do ship free on purchases of $25.00 or more so if you need $25.oo worth of products, you might save a little money by buying online. And their store return policy on makeup is that it needs to be returned within 30 days with a receipt…whether you get your money back in cash or store credit is up to the store manager’s discretion.
