Our Newest Discover Goodwill Makeover Contest…Open To Our Military Women (Active, Retired, or Married to Someone Serving)

DSC_0328Our newest Discover Goodwill fashion makeover starts today but we’ve added a few other goodies to this contest! Last September we ran a makeover contest open to our military women; whether active, retired or married to someone serving and it was one of our most popular contests, and we have requests every month to run a military contest again. So, in honor of those who serve our country, we’re doing another “military makeover.”

It’s easy to enter…

If you’re active, retired or married to someone serving; all you have to do is write a comment as to why you need/want a makeover. You need to be able to meet me at a local Discover Goodwill, (Colorado Springs, Woodland Park, Pueblo, Fountain), where we’ll shop and find you a fabulous “new” outfit (up to $25.) By entering the contest you allow us to take pictures and use them in a post. In addition to the Discover Goodwill (http://www.discovermygoodwill.org/) shopping trip, you’ll win…

  • A makeup makeover from our good friend Teresa Schmitt (who has helped some of our past winners) and is a whiz at helping women look their best: http://www.marykay.com/teresa.schmitt
  • A $25 gift certificate for The Cliff House at Pikes Peak, where you can enjoy a fabulous lunch (or dinner): http://www.thecliffhouse.com/
  • AND a fabulous new hairstyle provided by Heather*: http://heatherfangmeier.wix.com/lovelylocks

*True story…I discovered Heather when I visited a salon close to my house and loved how she did my hair. I’ve used her the last 5 or 6 times I needed a cut or color. When I decided to do this contest I tried to reach her to see if she’d volunteer her services (plus I needed a new “do”) but the salon had closed. I didn’t know how to reach her so I put out a request on Facebook asking if there was a stylist willing to be part of our contest. The very first person who responded was Heather (but I seriously didn’t realize it was “my” Heather.) When she wrote and said she had just started her own business out of her home I was doubly happy since I love to promote women starting their own business. I wrote back my thanks and said I couldn’t wait to meet her. I then went to her website, saw a picture of her and was SO EXCITED that it was who I wanted in the first place! (She did message me as I was messaging her, saying we did know each other.) Well, I did feel like a goof not putting two and two together but I’m thrilled she’s on board to provide our winner with a new look because she’s fabulous!

The contest starts today, Wednesday, August 28th and runs through Sunday, September 1st. We’ll announce our randomly chosen winner on Monday, September 2nd.

Simply leave a comment below (and make sure to use your email in the form so we can contact you).

Just a reminder…you need to live in the area and be able to meet me at a Discover Goodwill and also meet with Teresa and Heather in Colorado Springs.

Good luck to all our “military” women!!

Hi, Tammy! I would love to see my two friends, who are military wives, win this special makeover! Both are friends whose husbands are in the Special Forces. Right now, their husbands are away on special assignment. All they could tell me was that they were “training somewhere in Africa”. My heart really goes out to these two ladies, Rose Mitchell and Terri Schubert. While their husbands are getting trained or tortured (in simulation) for the sake of protecting our country and freedoms, these two are holding down the “fort” at home. Both ladies have two children and are pregnant with their third. They are hoping that their husbands can return in time to witness the births of their children. Most likely, their children will spend Halloween and Thanksgiving without their dads. While they are too far along in their pregnancies, they will be unable to travel during the holidays to be with family. This might be a long shot, but I do hope that you consider these two pregnant ladies for a military “maternity wear” makeover. Thank you so much for your consideration, Tammy!

I would like to nominate my friend Laurie. Her husband is in the Army. She’s a great gal and deserves much needed pampering!

Hi I would love to enter! My husband has been through 4 deployments and we have 4 kids! I work full time and try to go to the gym before work 3-5 days a week. I love shopping at Goodwill too!
