There are days I don’t wear makeup because I’m not planning on leaving the house or if I am, it’s just to run to the grocery store for a few items. I’m one of those women who it’s either a full-makeup job or nothing. But on those days I don’t fix my face, I kind of feel sluggish and not put together. And while I don’t look horrible and scare small children when my face is bare, I’m of a certain age who worshipped the sun when I was younger and now my skin shows it. I have sun/age spots, red patches and “laugh” lines…guess I’ve laughed a lot!
The last 5 or 6 times I’ve run out of the house without makeup, I’ve had people I don’t know come up to me and say, “Oh, I saw you live on Fox News with Craig Coffey” or, “I follow your 719Woman.com site.” I smile, we chat for a minute or they ask me a question, and I walk away thinking, “Great….” I’m sure a lot of you know what I mean. So when Sandra (from Hireananny.org) sent me the following article, “18 Of The Best Blogs With Makeup Tips For The Busy Mom” I read and tested out some of the tips (you don’t have to be a mom, just a busy woman.) Using just a few products I was able to get my makeup on in LESS than 5 minutes and feel great. (I can seriously take up to an hour for my makeup application when I am planning a day or evening when I’m going to be around people…I kind of thought it was all or nothing!)
The other day I used my new favorite “5 minute face” tips and when my husband got home from work, he thought I had meetings because I was “made up!” Five products (inexpensive ones) in less than 5 minutes. Not bad. Depending on your skin challenges, you’re sure to find some tips in this informative article that fit your needs.
For me, using a BB cream, eyelash curler, mascara, eye pencil and tinted gloss (I used the gloss on my lips and a bit on my cheeks), I felt “finished” and ready for a casual day. I have to admit I found out I’ve been using my BB cream the wrong way! First of all, I didn’t even know what BB cream (or CC cream) was and didn’t even read the directions when I picked some up last month. I kept thinking, what’s all the hype about? And my face was feeling kind of heavy. I was applying it on top of a moisturizer, primer, sunscreen and eye cream…which you don’t need to do!
BB CREAMS – (Beauty Balms) Promises to do the job of 5 or 6 other products; moisturizer, primer, sunscreen, skin treatment, concealer and foundation. A well-formulated BB cream is the only product you need after you wash your face. (No wonder I felt layered and kind of caked.)
CC CREAMS – (Color Control or Color Correcting) Similar to BB creams with better coverage and a lighter texture, meant to address additional issues like redness or sallowness. (I haven’t tried this but am planning to since I do want/need more coverage for those age spots.)
