I am beyond excited that our website was mentioned in The New York Times today!
Last week I got an email from Steven Kurutz, features reporter at the New York Times. Before opening the message I kind of assumed it was something like “Would you like to buy a subscription?” or that it was totally fake and didn’t come from anyone at the paper and I’d open it up and get hacked. But the name sounded vaguely familiar so I googled him and sure enough he was a real person and really at the NYT. I went to the paper and sure enough, I had read some of his articles before.
And he was emailing me?
So long story, kind of short, he was writing an article on the Star Light Laser Lights and in his research ran across an article I wrote for our site with the a review. And he wanted to know if he could ask me a few questions…are you kidding me? Of course! Heck, I think I would have hopped on a plane and gone to him if necessary. (It’s the NEW YORK TIMES!) We set up a time for us to talk on the phone and he actually called me so I’m thinking, this is really happening. He asked his questions and then he asked if I wanted my info to include Tammy York …719Woman? YES PLEASE!
A couple of days later photographer Ryan David Brown for The New York Times showed up at the house, took photos and my hopes got even higher that our site was really going to be mentioned. (He made everything so easy too!) And lo and behold it is online and will be in the actual paper on Thursday. Did I mention we’re talking about The New York Times?
Anyway, the story of course isn’t about me but rather the laser lights, but I have a couple of quotes, two pictures of our home, and the best…our site name was mentioned!
Beyond thrilled, excited, and I did buy 20 coupies of the paper….ha!
