Help Your Child Learn To LOVE Reading…

I grew up loving to read and now as an adult, it’s my very favorite thing to do. I’d rather read than shop, cook, garden or really, anything else. When my sister and brother and I were young, my mom would take us to the library as a treat where we could check-out as many books as we could carry. The way I got punished was not going to time out or being sent to my room, it was being made to go outside and not read! Whenever I go to a baby shower, I always include books as part of my gift.

My son grew up reading too. When he was younger, the school librarian had to order books in a higher grade level for him because he was so advanced. And I’m so happy to say, he still continues his love for reading and even though he has a Kindle, will still visit the library.

Obviously, I love reading and wish everyone shared my passion. The earlier you introduce books to your children, the better chance they’ll have in developing their own love for reading. Books can be very expensive…if you’re on a budget, check out the selections at your local thrift stores and garage sales. And of course, the library is free!

Here’s some excellent tips on how to help develop that passion in your own children. Thanks Meghan (from Babysitting.net) for sharing this…
