Easy Homemade Pizza – $10 Or Less Meals

Another fabulous recipe you can custom-design to your liking. With the toppings I added, two pizzas came in at a little over $8. This would obviously change, depending on what you add.

Easy Homemade Pizza –

Prep Time: about 1 hour, which includes dough rising

Cook Time: 10-15 minutes

Serves: 4 for approx. $8.06

Basic Pizza Dough –

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons yeast
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 5 t 6 cups flour

Directions:

Mix all the ingredients together (start with 5 cups flour and add more as needed.) Knead for about 2 minutes. Let the dough rise until double (this is optional but I did.) Spread dough on lightly greased pizza stone or cookie sheets. Top with sauce, cheese and toppings. Bake in preheated 500 degree oven and bake 10-15 minutes.

Basic Pizza Sauce –

Ingredients:

  • 1 6 ounce can tomato paste
  • 1 8 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt

Directions:

Mix all the ingredients together. You can add smaller or larger amounts of the spices. I like to taste as I go and mix accordingly.

The toppings I used:

  • 1 8 ounce package sliced pepperoni
  • 1/2 can black olives, sliced
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese

Spread pizza sauce on pizza dough. Top with half the cheese and toppings of choice. Sprinkle the rest of the cheese over the toppings and bake in preheated 500 degree oven. Bake 10-15 minutes. *Depending on the toppings I use, I sometimes cook the pizza dough for about 5 minutes AND THEN add the sauce and toppings and bake for about 10 minutes. Sometimes if I’m adding a lot of toppings, the dough doesn’t quite cook in the center so this helps.
