Well this morning at 4:30, Craig Coffey from FOXY 21 Morning News, will be showing up at my door to film live from my kitchen and back deck as I show him how to throw a couple of meals together (both under $10 for a family of 4.) We’ll also be whipping up 3 appetizers that are easy and inexpensive to make. We’ll be on air throughout the morning show from 5 to 8:15. I have filmed live before but I’ve never cooked live so we’ll see how that goes! I’m betting my kitchen counters will be a bit messy by the time we’re finished since I don’t have “secret helpers” in the background rinsing and washing. The first hour we’ll make shrimp tacos with mango slaw, the second hour we’ll make a vegetable cream cheese (tastes wonderful on fresh vegetables!), a beer cheese and pickled vegetables. During the third hour we’ll grill up some corn for a grilled corn chowder and then during the last episode, we’ll be chowing down!
I actually worked with Craig last month when Ashley and I joined Discover Goodwill and filmed live from their Circle location, talking about donating and using everyday items for other purposes. I’ll also be serving our food today using various fun dishes from Discover Goodwill, and wearing something from Ashley’s new store, Ashley’s Attic (located downtown), keeping the meals, outfit and dishes all on a budget. Who says you can’t eat, dress and have a nice table without spending a ton? Not me! Craig’s a pretty funny guy and I’m a decent cook so we should have fun, mistakes and all! (Cause I know I’ll make one like spilling, dropping, burning, or talking with food in my teeth!)
