This is a super easy dinner…quick enough for a hectic week-night, or for when you have guests over for a laid-back barbecue. I cook the potatoes (in the microwave) and boil the corn on the cob, then finish them off on the grill for some extra flavor. Make your salsa and corn sauce before you cook the chops, have your potatoes and corn cooked and ready to add to the grill and everything will be finished at the same time. Then entire meal came in at around $7.00 (the chops, mango, potatoes, corn and cilantro were on sale).
Happy 4th Of July!
I found this site by Nicholas Cardot and thought it was beautiful with the words and pictures he shared. Please enjoy and perhaps take a minute to reflect on our freedom, our country and our patriotism. Our country may not be perfect, but there’s no other place I’d rather live! And as we’ve seen here in Colorado, when our fellow citizens are in trouble and need help, we are there for one another.
Fourth of July Events….And Ways You Can Help With The Waldo Canyon Fire
Firework shows have been cancelled this year because of the extreme fire danger but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to do in and around our city.
$9.99 or Less June Hostess Gift Ideas….From World Market
It’s always nice to take a hostess/host gift when you’re invited to someone’s house for dinner, and while it’s totally appropriate to gift them with a bottle of wine or flowers, why not get creative and take something a little different?
Spring Clean Your (Clothes) Closet
Let’s Be Honest… Keeping your clothes-closet organized and uncluttered is a challenge for a lot of women. Clothes are personal and can evoke memories, and create a mood (and of course keep you from running around naked!). When was the last time you grabbed an article of clothing from your closet, put it on, looked […]
Throw An Inexpensive But Fabulous Baby Shower!
Hopefully this will give you some ideas for a party or shower you might be hosting in the future. Using what you already have in a different way (like the football dish), and picking up paper products and little decorations from a dollar store can really help you save money.
Hostess Gift Ideas For May….Most Under $5.00
Warmer weather usually means more invitations to barbecues and cookouts and while it’s always nice to take flowers or a bottle of wine to your hostess, here’s some fun ideas for different hostess gifts.
KVOR’s Table Talk – I Am a Guest On Teresa Farney’s (Gazette Food Editor) Radio Show!
KVOR’s Table Talk I had the pleasure of meeting Teresa Farney, Colorado Springs Gazette food editor and host of “Table Talk on KVOR” radio show this past week when I was a guest on her show. She and DJ Mark Goldberg, who was sitting in for DJ Aaron Seller. were so warm and welcoming and […]

April’s Hostess Gift Ideas….
I think it’s nice to bring a hostess gift when going to someone’s house for dinner. This month I got most of the items at the Dollar Tree store and a few things from Goodwill…..if you have the budget to spend more money, you could use these ideas and just buy more expensive items….(I personally would be happy to be gifted with any of these!)
Keep your flower bouquets fresher for longer
I love fresh flowers. I just wish they lasted longer! I recently read an article that suggested dropping an aspirin in the water would help keep them fresh for longer. I used mini carnations in my “experiment” (to see if even the type of flower made a difference) and I did come up with different […]
For the Men and Animals in My Life
It’s not all about me… Ok, so I’m not always shopping for myself when I’m at the thrift stores (even though I consider it “research” and not really shopping!). While on my most recent “Goodwill/ARC spree” I decided to look for some things for a couple of the men in my life. Go forth in […]
March – Great Toy/Book/Game Finds at the Thrift Stores
We have a grandson who is two and (except for Christmas and his birthday) I get all of his toys at the thrift stores. For the most part I look for known brand-names, toys that are easy to clean, and of course age-appropriate items. This month’s featured toys I bought cost me a total of $11.13!
Grocery Store Club Cards and Coupons
I am not a coupon clipper, unless it’s very, very convenient. I do clip from the Sunday paper and I did clip the grocery store coupons in the weekly ads because it was convenient…. …but then I discovered that if you have a Safeway or King Sooper’s Club Card, you can go online and download that […]

Every month we’ll feature a post on hostess gift ideas with pictures, where we bought the items, how much they cost and any […]
