I have a girlfriend who recently mentioned she needed a few warmer weather clothing pieces and another friend who was actually looking for sweaters so we solved the “where to shop” dilemma by going to Discover Goodwill. We’re all on a budget and wanted to pick up different pieces to add to items we already own so I knew Goodwill would be a good choice…I also know these two particular friends like to shop there, which made it an easy decision.
My friend Julie was looking for a few pieces to go along with some Noonday Collection jewelry she was displaying at a trunk show. My friend Patricia, who is always cold, was tired of the pieces she had already worn this winter and just wanted a few new things. And me? Well, I was there to visit and take pictures and if I happened to see something that caught my eye…
Julie got a call early in our shopping expedition from the school saying her son wasn’t feeling great so she had to cut the day short but we were able to find a few pieces before she had to leave.
We shopped at the Circle Street location and I have to say, as always, the staff was super nice and helpful and I always appreciate when they let me bring in my camera and play “fashion show” in the dressing rooms!
A Few of Our Finds…
Julie said she didn’t have any animal print anything in her closet which I found just wrong…ha! I think everyone needs at least one animal print piece they can have fun with. Anyway, look how great Julie looks in this Apt. 9 top, which works great with her Noonday Collection necklace and bracelets. You are “fierce” Julie! (Apt. 9 is sold at Kohl’s. I found a similar top there for $44 but this only cost $3.99.) Julie can of course wear this with jeans but it would also look great with a pair of black trousers or skinny jeans. A denim skirt or a neutral pencil skirt would work too. And she can wear this year-round, alone in warm weather and under a blazer or cardigan in colder temperatures.
I think Julie looks fabulous in this color! I personally think it can be difficult to pull off yellows, depending on your skin tone and the particular shade of yellow but this…absolutely perfect with her coloring. This Loft top brand new would run about $50 but Julie got it for a whopping $2.99. (Love all her Noonday jewelry!)
Comfort with a bit of bohemian vibe…Lana Lee dress $7.99. The colors look great on Julie and the dress is super versatile. She can wear a pair of flip-flops for a really relaxed and comfortable day or wear it with a cute pair of wedges. Julie could even wear this with a sweater and boots in the winter.
Patricia, who like I said tends to be cold, gravitated to the racks of sweaters where she found this Pierre Cardin sweater $3.99. Patricia can wear this with jeans, pants, skirts or shorts. She can wear this into the warmer months because it’s lightweight or layer it in the cooler weather.
Love the color and fun zipper details on the side of this DKNY sweater which would cost over $100 brand new but only cost Patricia $4.99.
Another fabulous DKNY sweater ($3.99) find for Patricia.
I admit I might have secretly been hoping this Vera Wang wrap cardigan ($4.99) didn’t fit Patricia so I could snatch it but it looked wonderful on her so she’s the one who went home with it.
Love the details…
Patricia looks great in these colors! This is a Merona cardigan ($3.99) which is sold at Target. Target normally sells these for about $20, depending on sales, and I personally own about a dozen in different colors and prints because they can be worn with everything. You can wear it buttoned up like Patricia, layer it over another shirt, or wear it open as a wrap. A great wardrobe “basic.”
Va-Va-Voom! Ok, so we finally got Patricia out of sweaters and look how fabulous she looks in this Calvin Klein dress ($6.99.) She loved how this fit, I think in part because it’s so well made with lots of flattering but comfortable structure. This would have cost more than 10 times what she paid if it was new…it does look new but with a much better price.
I of course had to pick up a few things myself.
Just a simple tee but I loved the color and knew it would go great with a pair of pants I already owned. This still had the tags on it from Kohl’s (original price $16) but I paid $2.99.
This little J. Crew summer dress ($3.99) wasn’t a “wow” when I first eyeballed it hanging on the rack but I thought it probably looked a lot cuter on, which it did. My pictures don’t do the color justice. Perfect for summer and sandals.
And I can wear it right now with a few added pieces…
My best buy of the day was this Maggy London dress which would retail for around $80 brand new. It was priced at $7.99 but half off that day so I got it for $3.99…not bad at all!! I love the neckline and the fact that it has pockets. It is so comfortable too. I can wear it with or without a belt and in fact, am planning on mixing up my prints a bit and wear this belt with it that I also found at Goodwill,
A fun day was had by all and there was absolutely no buyer’s remorse with prices like these.
