Game Day Dips…Easy, Affordable & Delicious

Over 100 million people will be watching the Super Bowl this year. I’m not a football watching person myself but I do love Super Bowl Sunday because of the commercials and all the food served at get-togethers.

I personally try to make party foods that can be prepared ahead of time or that can cook in a crock pot when having a large crowd so I can enjoy our company. I have my favorite dips I like to make, like spinach/artichoke, but this year I wanted something different, easy, inexpensive, and delicious.

Well, whether you’re looking for a dip that’s vegan, gluten-free, healthy, spicy, or full of meat and cheese, here’s a slew of dip recipes that will fit your taste. I personally thought the Buffalo Cheese Dip looked and sounded good so I decided to give it a try, plus it only requires 4 ingredients.

I changed up the amount of ingredients just a bit and followed the directions for the crock pot cooking method. This makes about 4 cups of dip which should feed about 12-16 people, depending on what else you’re serving and how hungry your guests are. If you’re having a larger group over, just double all the ingredients. I made my own pita chips from flour tortillas to serve with the dip, along with carrots and celery.

BUFFALO CHEESE DIP –

Prep Time: 5 minutes         Cook Time: 1 to 1 1/2 hours in crock pot         Makes: 4 cups for approx. $4.23

Ingredients:

8 ounces cream cheese

1/2 cup blue cheese dressing

1/2 cup FRANKS Red Hot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce

1/2 cup shredded cheddar (feel free to use a different cheese flavor)

  • Gluten Free – Make sure cream cheese and blue cheese dressing labels say gluten free.

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a crock pot. Heat on high for about 45 minutes. Turn heat to low and cook another 30 minutes or so until warm and bubbly. (Take the lid off and stir a couple of times while cooking to mix ingredients. Make sure not to over-cook.)

*This Buffalo Cheese Dip will be a bit chunky looking but that’s how it’s supposed to look.
